Description
The “Olon Estate” (“Ktima Olon”, in Greek) was built in 2007 by Tasis and Rena Laskaridis and is located at the village of Kontias, Lemnos.
An organic olive grove, fruit trees, a vegetable patch and farm animals co-exist on the estate following organic practices.
As there was no tradition in the production of olive oil on the island – curious to see if the island could produce quality olive oil – they started in 2007 by planting 300 trees of three varieties Koroneiki , Kothreiki (Manaki) and Adramyttini.
After having seen the amazing results of their product, they went on and planted more trees growing their olive grove to a total of 1850 trees, including a new variety named Throubolia.
The olive trees, cold press mill, and packaging area, are accredited organic/bio by TUV #20116220001583.
Their olive oil is premium extra virgin unfiltered. The harvesting is made in mid – October by hands and the bottling done within 24 hours from the harvest. Their olive oil has been recognised world wide as it is high in polyphenols, bearing a health claim that meets the E.U. regulation 432/2012 requirements.
Polyphenolic olive oil from Limnos island, made of Throumpοlia olive variety.
